Real Madrid to bid for Rooney

Spanish giants Real Madrid are planning to make a massive £60million bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney next summer.
According to Britain's Daily Star newspaper, Real president Florentino Perez has already sanctioned the move and will offer the England international a stunning £170,000-a-week contract. The Red Devils saw Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford for Real last summer in a mega £80million deal, the move coming despite United boss Sir Alex Ferguson continually declaring that the Portuguese maestro would not be heading for Spain.
Having been dealt that particular Ronaldo blow, Ferguson and the rest of United's hierarchy are sure to do everything within their power to keep Rooney at the club but, according to a Real insider, Perez is intent on getting his man.
""""Rooney is the top name on the list for next summer,"" said the source.
""Madrid will pursue him in the same way they did with David Beckham and Ronaldo. They are always successful and will do what it takes to get Rooney.''
Rooney has made no secret of the fact that he would like to stay at United for the rest of his career, but the chance to reign supreme in Spain is sure to test the 24-year-old's resolve.
Now shining in Spain following a superb stint in the Barclays Premier League, Ronaldo is convinced that Real should once again splash the cash in a bid to bring Rooney to the Bernabeu.
""I am convinced that Rooney will be a spectacle and a sensation at Real Madrid,"" he said.
""I know perfectly this player and he would be a fantastic triumph in La Liga.""
